Manager, Marketing and Content

Position Overview

The Manager, Marketing and Content works as part of Pulse Canada’s Marketing and Communications team promoting Canadian pulse crops and Canada’s pulse industry to key target audiences, including food companies, ingredient processors, pet food manufacturers and industry members. The Manager, Marketing and Content supports the entire Pulse Canada team in the development and execution of marketing strategies and the creation of content, working towards the ultimate goal of increasing demand for Canadian pulses worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Vice President, Marketing & Communications and working closely with all members of the Pulse Canada team, the responsibilities of the position are to:

Content Design and Development:

  • Develop content including digital assets, videos, blogs, podcasts, social media posts and other marketing materials.
  • Design materials related to relevant campaigns and the promotion of the Pulse Canada brand, ensuring all materials are consistent with Pulse Canada’s brand standards.
  • Ensure the overall quality of Pulse Canada’s marketing materials.


  1. Coordinate Pulse Canada’s marketing strategies, tactics and content both in-house and with external partners.
  2. Working with the team, develop, execute and evaluate an annual marketing and content strategy aligned with Pulse Canada’s strategic direction.


  • Identify, evaluate and report on marketing trends and insights with recommendations on new initiatives and tools to engage, communicate and share information with target audiences.
  • Monitor and report on market trends and use information to identify new opportunities and potential areas of growth to incorporate into work plans.
  • Work closely with Pulse Canada’s convention team to plan and execute the annual Pulse & Special Crops Convention.


The Manager, Marketing and Content reports to the Vice-President, Marketing & Communications and is also accountable to both the Pulse Canada and Canadian Special Crops Association (CSCA) boards, CSCA members, grower groups and government stakeholders who are key funders of marketing and communications work.

Employer Expectations

  • The candidate has 3+ years of experience in marketing and design, as well as a degree in a relevant field such Marketing or Creative Communications.
  • The candidate has proven experience working with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, and After Effects).
  • The candidate must have a strong understanding of traditional and digital marketing, and be current on new and emerging trends.
  • The candidate must have demonstrated experience developing creative content and implementing marketing strategies.
  • The candidate is an out of the box thinker with a knack for creativity and idea generation.
  • The candidate must have superior written and communication skills and demonstrated experience communicating to diverse range of target audiences.
  • The candidate has strong computer skills, including MS Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • The candidate works well in a team environment, is supportive of other team members and has a record of delivering results that are on time and accurate.
  • The candidate has the ability to manage time and multiple projects effectively and prioritize work in consultation with others in a dynamic team environment.
