Who We Are
Pulse Canada is the national association representing growers, traders and processors of Canadian pulses (dry peas, beans, lentils and chickpeas).
25 by 25
In 2017, Pulse Canada established “25 by 25”: 25% of the Canadian pulse industry’s production capacity will go to diversified, new end uses by the year 2025.
Our strategy will create new demand for Canadian pulses while finding new efficiencies in the trade environment and continuing to keep existing markets open.
25 by 25 focuses on two key areas:
1. Creating Efficiencies
Eliminating barriers to trade by ensuring continued market access in key regions, keeping crop protection products available to growers and advocating for the improvement of domestic grain transportation.
2. Creating New Opportunities
Creating diversified, stable and sustainable demand for Canadian pulses by marketing the health and environmental benefits of pulses, accelerating research to create incentives to use pulses in the food and industrial industries, and collaborating with key stakeholders to create food systems that prioritize health and sustainability.
Worldwide demand for Canadian pulses will grow each year as every market segment recognizes their value as healthy, sustainable and functional food products.
To contribute to the profitability of the Canadian pulse industry through programs designed to deliver innovative solutions that improve efficiencies and increase value.
